The Shaker Basketball Boys Programs mission is to help young men develop into successful student-athletes and leaders with character. Our focus of player & character development, as well as instilling a passion for excellence helps our student-athletes find success on the court and in life. The ultimate goal of is to build a championship level program that the community can be proud of. We will do this by enabling our student-athletes to be successful through lessons of hard-work, determination, and commitment.
Our Philosophy
Our coaching philosophy at Shaker High School is that we “Teach Basketball, and Coach People.” We take the approach that the basketball court is our classroom. Building a successful program requires teaching the game of basketball with a well prepared practice plan, in a positive and enthusiastic atmosphere. We take great pride in having our teams highly prepared to compete at a hight level, along with creating an environment that allows student-athletes to grow and improve. Any time your team is prepared to play and competes to the best of their ability, you have a chance to be successful.
Player development is key to team and individual success. Athletes who can see and feel themselves improving, will buy into the program and basketball philosophy. Striving for personal and team growth is constant, so our atmosphere is conducive to this. Positive coaching, enthusiasm, and creating an environment where athletes are unafraid to make mistakes allows learning and growth to take place.
The most important part is coaching people. Getting to know and building relationships with players is the foundation for our success. Student-athletes "don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care." When coaches and athletes truly care about one another, the results can be powerful and life changing. This responsibility is not taken lightly and is never ending. This responsibility lasts a life-time, and is the greatest honor that we have.
