Young Writer’s 2019 - 2020

Timeline

• October 28, 2019 – 5th and 6th grade Young Writer’s trip to Rensselaerville Institute for Kick-Off Workshop, 7:15 am depart from Blue Creek
• October 28, 2019 – November 24, 2019 – 5th and 6th grade students write their stories independently in Google Docs through their school’s Google Classroom site. Hand-written stories will not be accepted for revision day.
• **November 24, 2019 - First drafts are due for 5th and 6th grade on the Google Classroom site by Midnight. Late submissions will NOT be accepted.
• November 4, 2019 - 4th Grade Kick off, CO, 9am - 1pm
• November 4, 2019 – December 1, 2019 – 4th grade students write their stories independently in Google Docs through their school’s Google Classroom site. Hand-written stories will not be accepted for revision day.
• **December 1, 2019 - First drafts are due for 4th grade on the Google Classroom site by Midnight. Late submissions will NOT be accepted.
• December 2, 2019- Revision Day for 5/6th Graders from Blue Creek, Boght Hills and Southgate (5th grade 9-11/ 6th grade 11-1 at Central Office)
• December 9, 2019 – Revision Day for 5/6th Graders from Forts Ferry, Latham Ridge and Loudonville (5th grade 9-11/ 6th grade 11-1 at Central Office)
• December 16, 2019 - Revision Day for 4th graders from ALL schools (9-11 for Blue Creek, Boght Hills & Southgate / 11 - 1 for Forts Ferry, Latham RIdge & Loudonville at Central Office)
• December 2, 9 or 16 2019 – January 12, or 19 2020 – Students are required to revise stories independently based on recommendations from the high school students and/or their building’s editors.
• **January 12, 2020 – Second drafts are due FOR 5TH & 6TH GRADERS on the Google Classroom site by Midnight. Late submissions will NOT be accepted.
• **January 19, 2020 – Second drafts are due FOR 4TH GRADERS on the Google Classroom site by Midnight. Late submissions will NOT be accepted.
• January 12TH OR 19TH, 2020 – February 2, 2020 - Editors will edit for technical errors – comments will be given right on the Google document through the Google Classroom site.
• February 2 – February 23, 2020 – Students are required to check their story for comments and make final edits on their stories independently on their Google Doc through the Google Classroom site.
• **February 23, 2020 – Final Drafts for all grades are due by Midnight on the Google Classroom site. Late submissions will NOT be accepted.
• March 10, 2020 – Young Writers Publication Celebration 6:30 p.m. at SHS Cafeteria (Only for all students who follow through with all requirements and deadlines to completion. An invitation will be sent to students who meet the requirements)
