Coordinating Calibration Procedures for NOx and other Similar Trace Gas Measurements (1 hour)
The purpose of this session is to enable a discussion between those who are making measurements of NOx and other trace gases which follow similar procedures for their calibration (e.g. CO, O3, GHG) across NCAS. Motivated by some recent issues with NO calibration standards, the aim is to use this time to share experience and identify areas where we can intercompare methods (and instrumentation), discuss best practices and identify benefits from new measurement techniques. This will encompass zeroing and interferants as well as calibration standards.
Many of these practices and conversations will not be limited to NOx measurements, and there will be things that can be learnt from and shared with those making measurements of other gases. A broader range of measurands to be included in the discussion is also motivated by a planned upgrade to the AMOF COZI Laboratory at York, which aims to provide improvements to the calibration and intercomparison of equipment across different humidities, and for accommodation of new instruments that operate a high flow rate. This session will also allow us to gather information on other needs of the community that might be supported by the lab.
If you operate a NOx or other core trace gas measurement, we encourage you to join this session to provide insight on ways the NCAS community can coordinate and improve measurements, communicate any calibration needs you may currently have that the community could support, or to learn more about how others operate their instrumentation.
