Accessibility
To ensure accessibility and inclusion for all, the Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre have the following accessibility arrangements:
Several disabled Parking bays adjacent to the main hotel, available free of charge
Level access to the hotel is made through automatic sliding doors, and a lift will take you to all our bedrooms and conference venues with ease.
Accessible bedrooms with adapted ensuite bathrooms are also available in the main hotel
Accessible toilets feature across the hotel’s communal areas, and they have a Deaf Alerter to support those with hearing difficulties.
Lighting and colour contrast decor has been considered.
Fire escape procedures have been considered for those with visual, audio or mobility impairments.
NCAS has worked with the venue to ensure Gender-Neutral toilets are available each event day.
Sustainability
Some key areas from the Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre sustainability statement are:
We record energy usage allowing accurate monitoring of our energy consumption and energy-saving initiatives.
We use LED lightbulbs across the hotel.
We have committed to glass-only bottles for water provision in our 15 meeting rooms.
We recycle all waste glass, plastics and cardboard.
We have installed a composting system for 50% of food waste.
We use only British meats and ensure all our cheeses come from local dairies.
We ensure our fresh fish products are from sustainable sources.
We use locally sourced products wherever possible and collaborate with local suppliers for our menu items.
We use a local brewery to offer a selection of real ales both on draught and in bottle form and ensure wines and spirits are sourced locally, where possible.
Additional areas NCAS has put into action this year:
Group travel initiated from all sites, were numbers make this viable.
One fully meat-free lunch for all*.
Reminding staff to consider bringing a water bottle to save on dirty glass wear, and re-use mugs for hot drinks.
Re-using of resources, such as luggage tags, badges and lanyards.
Reduction to printing for the event overall, with a move towards more use of digital signage or QR codes where print-outs can be avoided. Generic signage is reused at various events throughout the year.
