Mary Sumner, PMHNP-BC

About Me

Mary is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over 10 years of experience in the psychiatric field. Virginia Commonwealth University, College of Nursing, awarded her a Master’s advanced practice degree. Much of her life has been spent here in Virginia, and she is proud to serve the Virginia community!

Her focus is on person-centered evidence-based care; she takes a holistic approach, incorporating comprehensive evaluations, assessments, and psychotherapy. Treatment plans, including medication management, are individualized. Mary is a certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP). She treats a range of disorders, including but not limited to mood disorders, ADHD, trauma, psychotic disorders, and prolonged mental health concerns. Her mission is to help clients meet their goals in a stigma-free environment. 

While she is devoted to helping others with their mental health, outside of work, she enjoys an active lifestyle.  Her dogs keep her busy, but in her free time, she delights in travel, outdoor activities, weightlifting, and karate.
