Art is a key component of who I am. Since kindergarten, I've dreamt of being an art educator. It is a great honor and privilege to serve students and families here at Ascent and pursue the great mission of training the minds and improving the hearts of our nation's youth.
EDUCATION HISTORY & PHILOSOPHY
Bachelor's of Fine Arts | 2016 | Colorado State University
As an art educator, I aim to show my students the blissful and boundless rewards of creation. Art is our personal narrative. It's truly a wonderous thing, and the virtue of wonder talks to those willing to listen! I deeply believe that we as human beings are all naturally called to learn. It is my duty and pleasure to help students find and embrace this calling. I want my students to go out into the world and make lasting connections to their art, heritage, and community. I want them to engage with our world in deep and meaningful ways.
Every day, our students pledge to love the beautiful and my class is centered around this philosophy. We ought to not only love, but also, create the beautiful. Classical works stand the test of time; they're undoubtedly worthy of admiration and safekeeping. Studying classical art and art history builds a window into the past for students to relate to and admire the great masters. Through content rich discussions and hands-on lessons, students develop the skills necessary to bring their own wonderous ideas, experiences, and emotions to life. I encourage all students to participate in art exhibitions and critiques to build on their oratory skills, as well as self esteem.
