Ms. Leiby

Greetings!

Welcome to Ms. Leiby's 4th grade website.  Science and history are the subjects I teach, and these seldom have homework, so there will likely not be many updates to this site. If that changes, you will all receive an email.

That said, this site exists so that you can find where to contact me and put a face to a name, and so that I have somewhere to put announcements should I have any to post! Feel free to reach out with any questions.

MEET YOUR TEACHER

Ms. Leiby |  4th/Science & History  |  Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Colorado

ABOUT ME

My name is Kate Leiby, and I’m elated to be a teacher apprentice this year for your fourth graders!  I took a strange path to education.  I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a double major in Criminal Justice and Psychology, then spent a few years working in law enforcement as a state park ranger. I loved it, and my first job as a paraeducator at a middle school in Greeley was only intended as a job between seasons that sounded fun. It didn’t quite work out that way, as I loved being in the classroom so much that I found myself drawn into a new career path! I spent last year as a TA here at Ascent with the fourth grade, and now I’m taking on more instructional responsibilities teaching science and history.  Of course, you can still find me rangering around the mountains in the summer showing people cool spiders! I feel blessed to have found a way to do both of the things that I love!

WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO

I am looking forward to so many things.  Mostly, I’m excited to see what the new fourth graders bring to the table!  I think we have an amazing crew this year, and good thing we do because we have some of the coolest topics in fourth grade to discuss.  Medieval history, dinosaurs, Robin Hood? It’s going to be incredible.
