You can create labels to organize your content and share saves with other teachers and students. Then, add this chrome extension to save websites on the go. You don't have to email yourselves websites anymore or have a million bookmarks on your browser. Keep saves them all in one place!
LingoJam provides translations to various languages. Many are fun like English to Ned Flanders, but some are very useful like creating bold or italics that can be used in Google Forms or other places where Rich Text Formatting isn't available. Notably the Bold translator and Italics Translator are very useful.
You may have noticed that if you don't reply to an email within a few days, you receive a message courtesy of outlook reminding you to respond. These are auto-generated by Outlook, not by the original sender of the email. If these are not helpful, you can turn them off in your outlook settings. Click the gear icon, click on "View All Outlook Settings", then scroll all the way down in the "Layout" page until you see the "Message Reminder" button. Toggle this to "Don't Show Message Reminders".
If you want to print something (hard copy or pdf file) clutter free from a website you are using, Printfriendly is a Chrome Extension you can add. This will allow you to click the extension then choose if you want to print, email or PDF. The clutter (ex. ads) on the website are removed and you can adjust the size of images and text in your output about with the click of a mouse. You can also easily click and delete content on the page you plan to print.
Does the principal's bulletin get lost in your inbox? Can you never find that schedule that was sent out? Next to the email hit the little push pin icon. This will hold the email at the top of your inbox until you don't need it anymore. Then, just hit the pin again and delete.
Ever have a student need more time when taking an assessment on Google Forms? They finally fixed it! When responding to a Google Form, Quiz, or Quiz assignment in Classroom while signed into the Google account, student progress will automatically be saved as a draft for 30 days from their last edit, or until the submission is complete.
When commenting on a Google Doc or Slide, only the owner of the document will be notified unless you assign the comments to a specific person. Include the @ symbol in your comment and you can tag anyone the document is shared with so that they will receive a notification about the comment. You also now have the option to assign comments, meaning that once you tag someone and click the check box , that person alone will be responsible for resolving the comment once the task is complete.
Miss the old Word Art font generators but want to add some fun to the fonts you are using? Check out Flaming Text where you have many premade font options to choose from for whatever text you wish to jazz up. When created, it will download as an image you can then insert. (Note: The free version of this works fine for your funky font needs)
This chrome extension will let you type and move things on your slides while they are full screen so your students get a better view. Simply go to the slide you want to present and click the extension outline in your browser. Then click it again to leave full screen mode. This is great if you assign work via google slides. Your students can use it to work and you can use it to review.
Make Beliefs Comix is a site for creating comics focused on feelings and emotions. One cool feature about the site is "Comic Starters" where they present an issue to start a comic with a given panel, and students can continue the discussion while selecting their own characters, creating new panels, and completing a comic strip. They have explanations for using SEL with students with Autism and various disabilities. They provide information for teachers and more. In addition, comics can be created using many languages. Artistic ability is not required to express yourself!
Canva is an online design space that can help you creat class resources, activities, posters, and more! Canva Pro, which has even more content and options, is free for educators when you sign up with your school email account. You can register for your account here.
