The library is a shared space. Students, teachers, and other members of the school community all work in the library and use the resources we provide. Students may come to the library to work on assignments independently, work in quiet groups, get research help or reading advice, borrow and return books, read, or participate in library programs and activities. Any student who does not demonstrate appropriate library behavior after a warning may be asked to leave.

2360 - USE OF TECHNOLOGY
Computer Laboratories and Distributed Computing
In order to provide teacher, staff, and pupil access to computers, the Board directs that provisions be made to provide computer access in computer laboratories, classrooms, and school libraries/media centers.
2361 - ACCEPTABLE USE OF COMPUTER NETWORKS/COMPUTERS AND RESOURCES (M)
Internet Safety Protection
As a condition for receipt of certain Federal funding, the school district shall be in compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act, the Neighborhood Children’s Internet Protection Act, and has installed technology protection measures for all computers in the school district, including computers in media centers/libraries.
2428.1 - STANDARDS-BASED INSTRUCTIONAL PRIORITIES
The school district shall provide library-media services that are connected to classroom studies in each school building, including access to computers, district-approved instructional software, appropriate books including novels, anthologies and other reference materials, and supplemental materials that motivate pupils to read in and out of school and to conduct research. The school district will provide these library-media services under the direction of a certified school library media specialist.
2530 - RESOURCE MATERIALS
The Board of Education shall provide resource materials to implement district and school educational goals and objectives as pupil needs dictate and district resources permit. Such materials include reference books, other supplementary titles, maps, library print and non-print materials, and other sources of information for use by pupils that are not designated as textbooks.
3222 - EVALUATION OF TEACHING STAFF MEMBERS, EXCLUDING TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS (M)
For the purposes of Policy and Regulation 3222, “teaching staff member” includes, but is not limited to, educational services staff members, guidance counselors, school nurses, library/media specialists, occupational therapists, and other teaching staff members working under an educational services certificate.
5750 - EQUITABLE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY (M)
The school district’s curricula in the following areas will promote mutual acceptance and respect among students, and enable students to interact effectively with others, regardless of any of the protected categories listed at N.J.A.C. 6A:7-1.1(a):
1. School climate/learning environment;
2. Courses of study, including physical education;
3. Instructional materials and strategies;
4. Library materials;
5. Software and audio-visual materials;
6. Guidance and counseling;
7. Extra-curricular programs and activities; and
8. Testing and other assessments.
9340 - COOPERATION WITH PUBLIC LIBRARY
The public library can and should play an important role in the intellectual and educational development of children attending district schools, serving them as a resource that reinforces and augments the school library in many areas and by providing services and materials that may go beyond those that the school library alone can provide.
5130 - WITHDRAWAL FROM SCHOOL (M)
C. Student’s Responsibilities
A student who withdraws, permanently or by transfer, must:
Return all books, uniforms, and other school property to the appropriate school staff member, who shall give a proper receipt for returned items;
Clear out his/her locker(s) and turn in any locks owned by the district;
Clear any obligations, for materials or fines, to the school library;
Pay any fines due for damaged or lost textbooks; and
Submit a properly authorized withdrawal or transfer form.
