August Berger

Originally from New York, August Berger is a Teaching Artist who resides in South Florida. As a bassist he appears regularly in regional orchestras and ensembles in venues from Key West to Palm Beach. A passionate educator, Mr. Berger is a strings teacher and double bass specialist at North Broward Preparatory School and is the double bass coach and an assistant conductor with the Florida Youth Orchestras. Inspired by his experience as a speaker for TEDxYouth@NBPS in 2018, August joined the team as Co-Organizer in 2020.

Tanya Avrith

Tanya Avrith M.A. EdTech is a passionate educator and author of “The Google Infused Classroom”; from Montreal Canada, now living in South Florida. She is a Google Certified Innovator and Apple Distinguished Educator. With deep roots as a teacher and pedagogue, Tanya consults with schools to help plan and execute large scale deployments and professional development plans for digital citizenship, technology integration initiatives and organizational development in schools. Tanya is currently the Personal Branding and Digital Communication Teacher and lead organizer for TEDxYouth@NBPS at North Broward Preparatory School in Coconut Creek, Florida.

Vladimir McMahan

Born in London but from the US, Vladimir McMahan is a North Broward student that dreams of someday working in foreign affairs. Intrigued by both people and politics, Vladimir participates in Psychology Club, Peer Support Group, Multicultural Club, and went on the life-changing Tanzania Trip in 10th grade. Vladimir has completed several AP courses, including Psychology and Human Geography. He also dances, performing in end-of-the-year dance events at school. Vlad has been a part of North Broward’s TEDx Committee since 2018.

Austin Stein

Born and raised in South Florida, Austin Stein is a student TEDx Committee Member at North Broward Preparatory School. He is an avid jazz drummer and concert percussionist, and leads the NBPS drum-line as Assistant Percussion Captain. Outside of class, Austin is the president and founder of the Samaritans 365 Community Service Club, as well as Treasurer of NB's Science Honor Society and Interact Club, helping to raise thousands of dollars for those in need in the local community. He was a speaker during the inaugural TEDxYouth@NBPS in 2018 , and is honored to join the Organizing Team this year.

Yinjing (Kristin) Li

Yinjing (Kristin) Li is currently a junior at North Broward Preparatory School. A leader in the NBPS community, Kristin is the Vice President of the French Club, and has been a National Honors Society member since her sophomore year. She is active on campus as both a student ambassador and a prefect in the Residential Village. Originally from China, she moved to the United States of America in the eighth grade. Kristin is passionate about culture and bringing together members of different communities.

Melissa Ozbeyler

Hey I'm Melissa. I am a senior at North Broward Prep and this year is my second year here. I moved to the U.S. more than a year ago from Turkey. I was a member of TEDx Club and organized a TEDx event at my previous high school, in Istanbul. Moreover, I've been to a couple TEDx events and I like watching different TED talks in my free time. I am hoping to major in biomedical or mechanical engineering at college.

Ivy Tam

Hi everyone! My name is Ivy Tam and I am from Hong Kong. I am currently a senior at North Broward Prep and my ultimate obsessions would be biology and my younger sister. I enjoy watching TED talks as they inspire me and broaden my horizons. I love being outdoors as well. Hiking and paddle boarding are my favorite things to do in Hong Kong. Moreover, I aspire to work in developing countries and pursue a medical career in the future.

Tong Wu

My name is Tong and I am from China! I came here as a freshman student and this is my third year at North Broward Preparatory School. I have been playing the piano since I was 5 years old. I love classical music in particular and I need to listen to it every single day. As a pianist, I performed in Czech Republic and Hungary, where I held two personal recitals there. It was one of my most wonderful experience. I am passionate about TED since the idea that Ideas Worth Spreading is something that I believe in since I was 13 years old. I am really excited to join the event!!

Chunyan Zhang

I’m Chunyan Zhang, also koan as Zoe. I’m originally from Chongqing, China. My passion is to spread out worthy knowledge. This constantly motivates me to devote myself into being part of any associations in my community. For now, it’s my pleasure and honor to be in the TEDxYouth@NBPS, and I’ll try my best to help with my TEDx family as well. Let’s make it happen!!!
