🌟Students Soar with STEM Success🌟

Nassau BOCES has been awarded approximately $500,000 annually for five years (2021 - 2026) through the NYSED-funded Smart Start Grant.

Nassau BOCES partnered with NYIT on this professional development grant.  Its goal is to  improve the expertise of grade K - 8 teachers in computer science, engineering, and educational technology to prepare their students to be successful in college, career, and citizenship.

This website houses the products of the work of seventy one teachers who participated in year four of the grant (2024-2025 school year). Teachers from participating buildings united their projects around a common cohort theme. They then chose a "Problem of Practice" or "POP" to focus their work. They worked on an action research project and developed Computer Science and Digital Fluency standard (CSDF) - aligned lesson plans to address their POPs. The projects developed by teachers are organized by the five key concepts of the CSDF standards are are listed as separate pages on this site (buttons listed below) with lessons listed by grade level for each concept. For each teacher's lesson you will find their action research document, lesson plans and artifacts. These items are free for educators to utilize and reproduce in their own classrooms.
