IMPORTANT BENCHMARK ASSESSMENT INFORMATION

As we are nearing the one month mark of our virtual learning endeavor, we hope your children are adjusting to their online learning environment and taking advantage of opportunities to connect with their mentor teachers. As we do with our in-person learning, we want to measure where students are academically, as well as monitor and support their growth throughout the year (in person and virtual). This practice is required by the district in the Public Act 149 of 2020. Unfortunately, this benchmark assessment cannot be done on individual computers at homes, and is only offered in the school.

If your child is not feeling well please keep them at home and we will set up an individual testing session. Because the testing sessions will be commingled, masks will be required by all participants and students are welcome to bring their own water bottle to have during the testing session.

Ruth Fox Middle School Benchmark Assessment Information

5-8 Virtual Parents, we have set up a drop-in time after school to complete the Beacon Math and Reading assessment on Tuesday, September 29th from 3:00-6:00 at Ruth Fox MS. The Beacon Benchmark assessment is comprehensive, and may take the entire testing time period. If you cannot make this session, please contact the school and we can arrange a testing time and location during our normal school day.

Please visit Mr. Teruad's newsletter about 5-8 assessment here.

Dear North Branch Parents/Guardians,

Please visit the "Virtual Learning Portal" tab to access Virtual Teacher meeting links, K-5 special lessons and more.

Students in grades K- 5 will be working with Pathblazers and will have daily support opportunities in Language Arts and Math from a North Branch Area Schools teacher. Students in grades 6 -12 will be working with the Edgenuity platform. All K-12 NBAS virtual students will have a teacher mentor assigned to them (for K-5, this will be the same teacher who will be providing additional support).

Our goal is to continue to support - and students to receive - the highest level of educational opportunities possible under difficult circumstances. If you have decided to change your mind about Virtual Learning, please reach out to your child's building principal. We will continue to do everything we can to support our Bronco students and families.

North Branch Elementary, Mrs. Rae (810)688-3042

Ruth Fox Middle School, Mr. Terauds (810)688-3284

North Branch High School, Mr. Hiltunen (810)688-3001

As we embark on this new learning journey, the district understands there will be glitches - and celebrations - along the way. We thank you in advance for your patience, understanding, and support as we stretch ourselves as education professionals.

Regards,

The North Branch Leadership Team
