Twylla Dillion, MBA, PhD is the Executive Director of HealthConnect One. She brings 10+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector spanning philanthropy, Medicaid reform, maternal-child health, data analytics, and academia. In her prior work at United Way of Greater Rochester, Dr. Dillion focused on using data and analytics across the fundraising, grantmaking, and evaluation cycle. Additionally, Dr. Dillion has conducted research on breastfeeding, served as program officer for maternal-child health programs, and worked as a research lead on a Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), the project focused on collaborating with Black moms better to understand contributors to Black maternal mortality/morbidity and develop strategies for better outcomes. She is a graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, where she received her Ph.D. in Health Services Research, Policy and Outcomes, and St. John Fisher College, where she received her MBA.
Kathryn DeVinney, Assistant Director of Health & Counseling at Naz, will present a brief training session on how to administer NARCAN to individuals experiencing narcotic overdose in an emergency situation. Kathryn DeVinney is a licensed clinical social worker and the Assistant Director of Health & Counseling at Nazareth. She received her MSW from Boston University and her clinical specialties are trauma and substance use disorders, as well as the treatment of emerging adults.
Sidney Cherubin, Director of Legal Services of the Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project, will discuss his path to the non-profit legal world and how his work evolves to respond to the needs of the community. Sidney Cherubin, Esq., is the Director of Legal Services of the Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Brooklyn Law School where he teaches the NY Civil Consumer Law Clinic. He was an Attorney, Brooklyn Site Director and Acting Legal Director while employed at The Family Center from August 2002 until August 2007 where he gained a great deal of experience representing families affected by a terminal illness with regard to all aspects of planning for the future well-being of the children in the families. These services include drafting guardianship and standby guardianship papers and representing parents and caregivers in court; executing wills, powers of attorney, health care proxies, living wills, uncontested divorces and Article 17A Guardianships. As the Director of Legal Services of the VLP, Sidney supervises the Family Law, Bankruptcy, Guardianship, Matrimonial, Foreclosure and Consumer Debt practice. Sidney oversees and supervises the Kings County Civil Court CLARO and Volunteer Lawyers for the Day Projects. He is a co-chair of Brooklyn Bar Association Pro Bono Committee and Special Events Committee and Brooklyn Bar Association Judiciary Committee, and chair of the New York City Bar Association Civil Court Committee.
