The Climate Action Committee is a new student organization at Northern Arizona University. We recognize the need for climate change mitigation and adaptation at various scales. As a higher-research institution, it is vital that we utilize the knowledge and expertise of our student body to lead the way in environmental sustainability and climate action. Our committee aims to provide an avenue for students to get involved with tangible, visible, and research-based campus sustainability initiatives that are hands-on and engage the wider community!

Ongoing Projects:
The Thermal Film project: We propose an investment in UV-reflecting thermal films for windows of the Physical Sciences building. This is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 48,864 lbs or 22,164 kg each year. Read our Green Fund proposal HERE, submitted 4/6/23 and approved 4/25/23. Some installations have been completed, and the rest will be installed over winter break.
Alternative Commuting & Accessibility: We want to promote alternative commuting in an accessible way. Free bikes anyone? (;
Window Caulking energy efficiency project: We will be working to make more campus windows air-tight and better insulated to reduce thermal exchange
Adopt a Street: CAC will be working to adopt our own street! In exchange for publicity, we keep the street looking pristine
Donation Drive: We want to help international students get situated when they move to Flagstaff, while simultaneously reducing waste with a donation drive
Fleet Electrification Now!: In coordination with Northern Arizona Climate Change Alliance, we want to push the university, city, and county toward immediate electrification of their fleet vehicles.
Have another idea of how to reduce the university's carbon emissions, or want to get involved with any of these projects? Let us know and we can work together!
