Reheis and Kihl (1995) from the United States Geological Survey developed this method. The great surface area of marbles allows for the capture of fine particulate matter, dust; marbles simulate an alluvial environment.
The objective of this project does not currently have that as an objective. However, eruptions like Sunset Crater in 1085 CE fit into the scope of this project's timeline.
