What is Project Perspective?
What is Project Perspective?
Project perspective is an NAU advocacy initiative that exists to help us better understand the perspectives of those around us by reflecting on our own personal beliefs and perceptions.
The Five Pillars
Be Mindful of Our Words:
Think before you speak.
Consider how your words might impact others.
Words Reflect Awareness:
Thoughtful communication shows self-awareness.
Our language influences how we’re perceived.
We All Fall Short Sometimes:
Self-awareness isn't perfect.
Mistakes happen, and that's okay.
Stay Open to Feedback:
Others can help us see what we miss.
Receptiveness to feedback is crucial for growth.
What can we gain:
Helps manage emotions more effectively
Strengthen relationships
It is important to seek out information, and educate ourselves, especially about topics that we don’t know a lot about.
Tips:
Don’t be afraid to ask
consider diverse sources
Try to know what you don’t know
Communities are groups with shared interests, hobbies, identities, and even things like a shared purpose!
Ways to cultivate community:
Create Space
Prepare
Invite
Save a seat
Help out
It is important to recognize the privileges that we have, not just because it will provide perspective, but also because it will provide us the chance to speak up for those who may not be able to.
By engaging in meaningful conversions and not only sharing our own perspectives, but also by listening to other’s perspectives we can understand our peers better.
