Our mission

We are fascinated by the world of plant hormonal regulation, especially by the auxin flow, which regulates the plant development during its entire journey from plant tips to roots.

Our team is interconnected with the Laboratory of hormonal regulations in plants, Czech Academy of Science in Prague.

We are using a broad spectrum of molecular biology approaches (protein localisation by fluorescent tags, CRISPR/Cas9 mutagenesis, NGS transcriptomics), classical laser confocal and light-sheet microskopy, super-resolution techniques and bioinformatics (big data analysis by cluster computing)

We investigate the sub-cellular localization of auxin transporters and the role of the cytoskeleton and Arp2/3 complex in the auxin transporters positioning.

We deal with the reconstruction of auxin signalling evolution by EVO-DEVO study of the closest relatives of algae to land plants (mainly stoneworts).

We study complex regulatory mechanisms involved in the control of anther dehiscence with respect to the influence  of weather effect on the whole process.

RNDr. Jan Petrášek, Ph.D.

Leader Since his graduation of Charles University under supervision by Eva Zažímalová and Zdeněk Opatrný with thesis Hormonal regulation of plant cell division and elongation (2007) Jan's works is devoted to study of regulation and localisation of auxin transporters using advanced microscopical approaches. Afterwards, his interest has spread to auxin signalling evolution and comparative study of plant and algae.
