Ideas of how to Show International Mindedness in school:
- We have every day symbols (such and entrance and exit) in different languages. We teach it through the units when we ask students to inquire into global issues and we address it through LP traits.
- Try also the LP and/or Transdiciplinary Themes translates into different languages. Get parents to help. It depends their understanding that way too
- As a Teacher Librarian, I use our "exhibition" area to display various books according to the theme of the month, such as World Mother Tongue Day (books from our international collection), Tasty Journey (cookbooks, especially international cuisine), Happy New Year (celebrations around the world), and etc.
- We will soon complete an IM audit involving mixed groups of staff. The audit involves tangible things such as buddy system, cross age events, units relating to different perspectives, languages prominently displayed, all languages freely spoken etc. from this survey we will hopefully identify strengths and areas to improv
- Multicultural day, show ur IB profile day, book character day, teachers day where students write messages to the teachers in their mother tongue
- International Day, set up booths representing countries of your students, sell food etc. in collaboration with parents and PTA, Celebrating Diversity week
