Developing the unit should follow a backwards planning model. Once you know your Statement of Inquiry, figure our the questions students need to answer, and then think of the final project that the students will use to show they have answered these questions.
The IB has a requirement that we start the process and think about the types of questions that are needed to address the topic. they come in three types, factual, conceptual and debatable. Create two (2) questions per type. Often one type of question PER subject area.
Each type of question should usually contain one of the Key Concepts or Global Contexts.

Starting by focusing on the Summative Assessment is called backward planning. It is usually recommended that you use backward planning, but especially when working on project-based learning.
