Purpose:
Star Academy recognizes the significant role that families play in the livelihood of a school community. The Network Of Volunteers At Star Academy (NOVAS) meet monthly to plan social activities open to all families of Star Academy. The NOVAS' sponsor these events to foster friendships, build positive school spirit, nurture parent-to-parent and school-to-parent communication, help with special classroom and administrative needs on a volunteer basis, and raise funds.
The purpose of the NOVAS is to serve the school's best interests by supporting the school's ESLERs (Expected School-wide Learning Results), mission, programs, and activities. The NOVAS' are designed to help all families engage in Natomas Charter School's community by being connected, a champion, and contribute for the betterment of the school. The NOVAS play a large role in championing the school by promoting, advocating, backing and supporting the mission of the school. Additionally, the NOVAS help connect the school to families by hosting and supporting events; along with contributing to make Star Academy a successful learning environment for all.
The NOVAS work closely with the school administration and staff. All funds raised by the NOVAS belongs to the school and follow all school fiscal policies. No separate bank accounts are established for the NOVAS.
