Hello, I'm Ms. Hines!
Students often refer to me as the "Kindness Teacher" or "Ms. Kindness," because I teach lessons about Kindness throughout the school year as part of our Kind Kids Club (see the Kindness page for more information!)
I have been the school counselor at Star Academy since 2013 and previously worked part-time as a counselor in the other NCS Academies. Prior to joining Natomas Charter School, I worked in the mental health field, serving children and adolescents with significant mental health needs and disabilities. My past experience includes providing school counseling services in other Sacramento school districts and substitute teaching.
I have a Bachelors in Sociology and Communications from Pacific Lutheran University and a Masters in Counseling from California State University, Sacramento.
I'm passionate about teaching students Kindness and Empathy, and helping students develop stronger social-emotional skills!
Areas of focus and responsibility at Natomas Charter include:
Supporting Students, Teachers, and Parents
Providing Group and Individual Counseling
Community Resources and Referrals
Mentoring and Classroom Support
Coordinating School-Wide Activities and Social-Emotional Learning for Students and Families
Providing Support to Special Education and Attending SST/IEP Meetings
Feel free to reach out and contact me if you have questions, would like counseling or parenting support, or if you need information about resources in the community. I look forward to meeting you!
