Welcome!

About Me

Hello! My name is Matt Perry. This is my second year teaching at Star Academy. I am a recent graduate from CSU Sacramento where I finished my teaching credential program in May of 2022. I grew up in Sacramento, CA around the Natomas area while moving to Carmichael in middle school. My home has been in Carmichael ever since, but I have moved away quite a few times since graduating High School. I attended Humboldt State Univ. for my undergrad where I received my B.S. in Kinesiology. After graduation I moved to San Diego, CA to work as a personal trainer but shortly after my move I found myself back home in Sacramento to pursue my teaching credential. While I was living in Humboldt, I had a job working at an elementary after school program which ultimately led me to where I am today, a 2nd Grade teacher. I am beyond excited to be a part of so many students lives and I hope to continually educate myself throughout the years in order to help become a better educator.  Thank you for taking the time to read a little about me, I hope to meet you in person soon!

Teaching Philosophy

PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION IN THE CLASSROOM

I believe that each student possess different strengths from each other. In the public education system, it is easy to treat and teach everyone the same which doesn't set each student up for success in their future. I learn differently than my colleague and each student learns differently from each other. My philosophy is to get to know each student and build a relationship with them that allows me to see who they are and how they learn. Knowing how a student learns allows me to give students the education they deserve.
