Nurturing Disciples in Home & Congregation

Fellow adults, parents, & mentors will explore scripture and resources to help us understand the role that each of us play in effectively passing on faith from generation to generation. We will use the book Frogs without Legs Can't Hear by David W Anderson and Paul Hill as a starting point as we explore what faith is and how the home and church congregation can partner. "Working through the 5 Principles, 4 Key Faith practices, and 3 Characteristics, the Holy Spirit creates passionate and faithful evangelists and disciples" (p12). The goal of our time through January and February is to reflect together and support each other as parents, mentors, and members of a church so that we can dig deep, share stories, and learn strategies to connect our faith with others.

The BEMA Podcast with Marty Solomon

This class will listen each week to a podcast by Marty Solomon that will be an ongoing walk through the bible and then discuss what we have heard in the podcast. In an engaging and thoughtful way, Marty walks us through the story of God and his people (that’s us!), along with the invitation to partner with God in following His Kingdom (The Kingdom of Shalom) versus following the world’s kingdom (The Kingdom of Empire). We miss much of the richness of the biblical text since we do not understand the original Hebrew and Greek and the cultures of the ancient Eastern world. Marty puts all of that in historical context and then encourages us to wrestle with the hard questions raised by what we read in the bible. Most of all, Marty wants us to experience transformation in our lives to become more authentic disciples of Jesus and understand that God desires most of all that we know Him.
