Hello everyone!
Thank you for visiting our website and seeking out information for the Esports team! We welcome any skill level and are looking forward to a great upcoming season. Below, you will find all necessary information to get involved. Please read ALL of the information and get in touch with us as soon as possible as to whether or not you would like to join. You can connect to us via the Contact page here on the site. There are 2 seasons per school year - one in the Fall starting Mid/Late September and one in the Spring starting around January/February.
IMPORTANT SEASON INFO BELOW:
Thank you for reaching out, we are always looking for new members to join, any level of skill is welcome! I will happily answer your questions, along with a shortlist of information below.
The games available this season are as follows (Click on titles for PlayVS Official Rules):
- League of Legends (Teams of 5 - PC and Mac)
- Rocket League (Teams of 2 or 3 - All Systems)
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Teams of 3 - Switch)
- Splatoon 3 (Teams of 4 - Switch)
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Teams of 4 - Switch)
- Hearthstone (Teams of 3 - PC and Console)
- Fortnite: Zone Wars (Teams of 2 - All Systems)
- Street Fighter 6 (Teams of 3 - All Systems)
- Chess.com (Teams of 3 - Internet Access)
- Marvel Rivals (Teams of 6 - Xbox, PS5, PC)
- Valorant (Teams of 5 - PC)
NOTE: If you see a game on PlayVS's website that's not listed here, just ask!
If any of those games are of interest, it costs $20 to enter into the season as a player. I highly encourage you to come with a team assembled, if you can. But if you are entering solo, then I will put you in the substitute pool until there can be a spot open on a complete team. For instance - right now, I have one full League of Legends team and another 3 interested players by themselves, so those new players are currently in the sub pool until I have enough players to fill another team (I hope that makes sense). I do try to put certain skill levels together as best as I can when making the teams with an abundance of players, but when it's only just enough to put a team together, it comes down to just being able to get everyone to play.
EX. - Teams we are trying to fill could look like - 3 out of 5 LoL players, 3 out of 4 Splatoon players, and 2 out of 3 Smash players. We will be compiling more teams once I find out more info from you in part 2 of this info below.
THERE ARE 2 SEASONS PER SCHOOL YEAR - A season is built up of 2 (optional) weeks of pre-season matches to warm up and familiarize yourselves with the way PlayVS works. Following that, there are 8 weeks of regular season matches. If our record is good enough, we will qualify for 2 weeks of playoffs, which contains 2-3 games per week until a championship school is crowned! Fall season typically starts mid to end of September and goes to the beginning of December. Spring season starts at the end of February and goes until the beginning of April.
1) HERE is a link to the full schedule to the current season (Spring 2026). This includes information on what days of the week your game will be played. You may also find links to the rulebooks of this game on the same page (use the search bar at the top of the page if you cannot find it).
2) Please find me in room 200H during the school day to pick up a club indemnity form, if you have not already filled one out for the current school year. This must be signed and returned to me before after school activities can be played!
3) Create a profile on playvs.com and connect your appropriate account to your profile so I can add you to a team roster.
4) Please pay your $20 season fee ASAP! Payment for Spring 2026 regular season is February 6th AT THE LATEST. If you pay before January 6th, there are 2 weeks of preseason matches to get used to how the regular season will work. See the calendar linked in #1 for schedule.
5) After I have your payment and indemnity form, I will send you an invite to the NHS Esports Discord server so that we can be in communication for when games are played virtually and any other important announcements I need to make.
Please reach out with any questions or concerns! If there are not enough people for your sport right away, we can register other people up until February 6th. The preseason gets underway starting the week of January 26th, so if you are interested in joining for preseason, I can put you on a team and you can play a game as soon as it is scheduled.
