Grade 5 Research Class

Fifth graders will work towards library standards with a Guided Inquiry Design (GID) project that asks them to design a research question and pursue it. By researching an area of interest, the connections made to current events and issues in the immediate inquiry community of the class, the school community, and the larger world, show that research is part of an important process and their unique perspective is vital. The GID process reinforces reading, writing, organization, and presentation skills. 

1. Choose a topic of your interest that is open to research.

2. Immerse in and Explore the topic to Identify your focus.

3. Gather information from multiple sources.

   1. Print sources

   2. Database sources

   3. Website and additional sources 

4.  Propose a project to Create.

5. Share your new knowledge.

6. Evaluate and reflect on what to do next.
