Testing Information
State Testing
The state of Illinois requires all students in grades 9-11 to test each spring. Currently the SAT Suite of assessments is being used. Freshmen take the PSAT 9, sophomores take the PSAT 10, while juniors take the SAT. Senior have a college visit day.
The tests are standardized tests given to measures critical reading, math problem solving and writing skills. Students will receive feedback concerning their readiness for college. For more information, please visit the College Board.
Free SAT Practice is available to all students through Khan Academy.

Advanced Placement Testing
Although NCHS doesn't offer AP courses, students may elect to take an AP exam. AP exams are offered each May to interested students. Students interested in highly selective colleges may want to consider taking the AP exams. More information is available AP Central. Interested students need to contact the guidance office in the fall.
