Year 1's High Flying Adventure!
Year 1 had a fantastic day at the RAF Museum in Hendon! The children were fascinated by the many historic aeroplanes on display and enjoyed learning how flight has evolved over time. After exploring the museum, they had a brilliant time letting off steam in the park. Of course, the highlight of the day — as always on school trips — was lunch!
During the day, the children also took part in a workshop to support their science learning on materials. Working in teams, they investigated different materials and identified their properties using scientific vocabulary. They even went on a material hunt around one of the hangars — and impressively, they weren’t tricked by a "sneaky" plastic item, correctly noting that plastic hadn’t been invented when those planes were in use.
As always, we were incredibly proud of how well the children behaved. I continue to be so impressed by this wonderful group, and it has truly been an honour to teach them this year.
Year 4 Rock Out with Electric Umbrella
This week, our Year 4 class were fortunate to be able to attend an event at St. Albans Cathedral which was led by Electric Umbrella. The children joined hundreds of others from the local area to sing and perform a number of the songs from Electric Umbrella's repertoire, all aimed at the idea of inclusion and acceptance.
As usual, the performances were lively and engaged everyone in the cathedral, leaving some lasting memories!
The children were fantastic and, as always, represented the school brilliantly. We were very proud of their focus and understanding.
Performing Arts Workshops & Summer Camp at Nash Mills
Ready? Let’s go break a leg! On Friday, the children immersed themselves into a world of the performing arts. Their confidence shone through at every moment and there was not a moment of shyness.
This opportunity is an amazing chance for children to explore and participate in something new and maybe inspire a new generation of musicians and thespians.
Here are a few comments from Year 3:
"It was really fun!" said Emine.
"It was awesome! We sang and danced!" gleamed Amelia.
"It was really fun and active!" said Harper.
"We learnt new dance moves. It was really cool!" commented Freddie.
If your child enjoyed today's workshops, Jigsaw Performing Arts will be back during the summer holidays. Please see the message below:
