Verulamium Museum was enjoyed by all of Year 3. We began with a self guided tour of the museum, some of us were even able to build our own Roman bridges. During our 'Market' workshop, the leaders commented on how well behaved our students were and that they had impressed them as historians answering questions quicker and with more depth than other classes.
We were lucky with the weather and were able to eat our lunch outside. We then headed over to the hypocaust to see where the original mosaics had been laid. We even had some free time to enjoy the park!
Year 2 enjoyed a morning of Scootability this week. The Active & Safer Travel Team from Hertfordshire County Council joined us to help teach the children about being safe whilst riding their scooters. The children learnt that they should never ride their scooters on the road and how to cross the road safely. They practiced using the words -
STOP, LOOK, LISTEN, THINK.
It is now vital that children really look carefully when crossing roads as there are many electric vehicles which are virtually silent. They practiced avoiding dangers on the pavement and how to stop their scooters safely.
Two pupils have been able to share their out of school achievements with me over the past week. A huge well done to Ivy and Arthur, both in Year 1, for their success in Dance and Rugby (respectively!).
It is always great to see our Nash Mills children doing so well in all walks of life!
A huge 'well done' to our Year 6 students, who all successfully completed their SATs tests this week. There were a few tricky moments, but the week largely went by fairly smoothly. Hopefully for Year 6, there are now lots of nice things to look forward to, including their residential trip and production, as we move through the next half term.
Next up is the national Year 1 Phonics Screening Check and Year 4 Multiplication Check which will take place after half term. We will write to parents providing a little more information about these assessments nearer to the time.
Just a quick reminder, please, to make sure all uniform is clearly named. As the weather gets warmer, we find increasing numbers of jumpers and coats that have been taken off and subsequently lost. We will do our best to return lost uniform if we can see a name.
Also, please ensure that any jumpers worn are plain navy blue ones or those purchased from our uniform suppliers. Other jumpers are not part of school uniform.
Finally, if your child needs to bring sun-cream into school to reapply at break or lunchtime, please send it in a named bag and remind your child that it should only be used by them. Some of our children have allergies or intolerances so we discourage sharing sun-cream.
This week we are looking at speed; Ivy is at the top of our leader board with a speed of 0.68 seconds a question! Can she get to under 0.50 seconds a question? Isma'il is in second place with 1.08 seconds per question, can he get under 1 second a question? Can he catch Ivy? Ngowari is just 2 tenths of a second per question behind Isma'il, can she catch him?
Well done to our top 3 Rock Stars this week!

This week, the school took part in 'Woodland Worship' from our Forest School area. Part of this encourages us to take time to think about the the world around us and how lucky we are to have it.
‘The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.’ (Psalm 19:1)
The Bible says that the things in nature that make us go WOW! Mountains, clouds and leaves are amazing and make us go WOW!
Continue to look closely at nature this week, to keep being aware of the amazing things both big and small. I wonder what else will make you go WOW!
