Following training, it was brilliant to see so many of Year 5 volunteering to be Peer Mediators at lunch time. Starting next week, they will help find solutions to minor disagreements on the playground between children younger than them. They will need some key social skills such as good listening, patience, asking questions and finding solutions. They will work on a rota basis wearing the PTA sponsored jackets so the children know who to go to for help. They will use the following rules to help the children be ready to mediate:
The Rules:
1. Are you willing to compromise (give a little) and solve the problems through mediation?
2. Only one person talks at a time.
3. Be respectful, no name calling and unkindness.
4. Tell the truth.
5. Use positive behaviour and body language.
6. Everything discussed must be kept confidential.
I look forward to hearing how they get on.

This term children from Nursery, Year 2 and Year 4 have been thoroughly enjoying their Forest School lessons. Each week they have been exploring the wildlife/ mini beast area, whittling, building shelters, planting and noticing seasonal changes. The children have also been helping to develop some of our ongoing projects, such as creating habitats by building bug hotels and in our new poly tunnel planting a range of flowers/vegetables! The children are currently growing sunflowers, green beans, potatoes, sweetcorn, wild flowers and tomato plants! They have been extremely busy helping to nurture the plants ensuring they are being well watered and re potted when needed.
I am so proud of all the children across the school for immersing themselves into Forest School life with such passion and enthusiasm. They all continue to help build up and create our wonderful Forest School area. We look forward to keeping you updated on any new, exciting developments.

As the weather improves, we find more children taking off their jumpers at break and lunchtimes.
This weekend, PLEASE make sure that your child's name is written clearly in their uniform as it make it so much easier to return to them.
Please also ensure that any suncream comes in in a named bag so that it is just used by your child.
Thank you.

Swimming is taught to every child in Reception-Y6 across the two weeks and all are expected to take part. This is an important life skill which we hope all will be proficient in.

Today in worship we thought about how fortunate we are.
The children told me that they felt fortunate to have loving families, brilliant friends and so many opportunities to learn new things. We talked about how fortunate we are to have a community, where we can all work together to do brilliant things but that we must remember to recognise and thank those who are there for us.
Thank you for being there when we need you!
