We had a fantastic day visiting the British museum where we consolidated all our learning by seeing real artefacts from the Ancient Egyptian civilisation. It was so wonderful seeing how much the children knew and how excited they were to learn even more about this incredible period in history. At the end of the trip we even got to meet PC Allen and PC Nochi on their horses!
This week some of the Year 6 students ran a Worship focusing on safety when out and about. We discussed the changing seasons, the shorter days and the darker evenings. We looked at pictures of things that we could wear to increase our visibility in the dark.
“We should put our lights on. We need lights on the back and on the front.” Bobbi, Reception.
“We need to wear reflective strips and hats when it’s dark in case the cars can’t see us.” TJ, Year 2
This week's attendance scores are in, and it's time to celebrate our Attendance League champions, this week in the form of a match report!
Welcome to this week's thrilling round-up of the Nash Mills Church of England Primary School Attendance League. Let's dive into the action-packed attendance match report where each year group battled it out for the top spot! We saw a slight drop in scores at the start of the week; possibly one or two half terms finishing a little late?
Leading the league with an impressive attendance rate of 98.4%, our Nursery pupils have shown resilience and dedication, maintaining their undefeated streak. A commendable performance from our youngest stars, setting the bar high for the rest of the school! Not far behind, Year 3 take the second spot with a stellar 98%. Their teamwork and determination are evident as they continue to strive for excellence. Keep up the great work, Year 3! Year 4 claim third position this week with a solid 97.5%. Their consistent attendance is a testament to their commitment and hard work. They're definitely a year group to watch in the coming weeks!
Following the pack are Year 6 with 96.7%, Year 5 with 96.6%, Year 2 with 95.5% and Reception with 94%.
Year 1 round off this week's report with 92%. While there's room for improvement, their spirit and determination are undeniable. We believe in you, Year 1—let's aim higher next week!
As we wrap up this week's attendance match report, let's continue to encourage everyone to be in school every day. Remember, every day counts in our journey of learning and growth. Keep up the fantastic effort, Nash Mills! Stay tuned for next week's report to see how the attendance league unfolds. Until then, let's all strive for that perfect 100%!
We are holding a non school uniform day on Friday 15th November. Children can come to school in their own clothes in exchange for a £1 donation in support of Children in Need (payable on Arbor).
With our development of Forest School and focus on growing, at the end of last year, Miss Bentley set some children the challenge of growing their own tomato plant; thinking about the best way of looking after it.
We were amazed to see this picture this week of one of our Year 3s who has grown an enormous plant, which is now producing fruit.
Well done! That is fantastic!
Hopefully you have all been able to secure an appointment to meet with your child's class teacher at next week's Parent Consultations. These happen mid-way through the autumn and spring terms and are aimed at providing you with a little update as to how your child is progressing in school. Teachers will be able to let you know how they have been doing in class and anything that they have noticed which might help your child further. If you have noticed anything at home, or would like advice on any aspect of your child's learning, it is a good time to discuss this.
Appointments are set for 10 minutes which isn't long, however as teachers have around 30 families to see, it is the best way for us to manage the time. If your conversation is going to take longer than 10 minutes, the teacher may ask for you to make a follow-up appointment so that you can have the time needed. Please do not worry if this happens!
The appointments take place in different classrooms within the school so that you can see some of the children's learning. Books are also on show for you to be able to have a look through if you wish.
Finally, we also take the opportunity to carry out our annual parent survey. Please ensure that you complete this when you visit next week; your views are really helpful in shaping the next steps for our school.

This week, we have begun thinking about our new Ubuntu value of 'Hope'. We have spent time during worship and in class thinking about what Hope might be and what it might look like. I have loved hearing some of the suggestions, including that 'hope is always knowing that things will be ok, even if they are really tough' or 'knowing that there will always be someone to help me when I get stuck'.
Hope is incredibly important to all of us and something that we should remind ourselves of regularly; even on the darkest days. Take a moment to think:
What is something that makes you feel hopeful right now?
