Christmas Reminders!
Community Christmas Parcels - Thank you for your donations this week towards our Christmas packs. These will be distributed to people in the local area who deserve a 'thank you' for something that they do. If you would like to nominate someone, please click here by Monday!
Christmas Jumpers - From Monday, 9th December, children can come to school in their Christmas jumpers over their uniform if they would like to. Please see the below poster from the PTA who are planning to sell pre-loved Christmas Jumpers at the Christmas Bazaar on Friday, 13th December. The official 'Save the Children' Christmas jumper day is taking place in school on Thursday, 19th December; payments for this are now open on Arbor (suggested donation £1 per child).
An additional request from Year 6... At next week's Christmas Fayre, Year 6 will be running a number of stalls as part of an enterprise project. The Red Nose Reindeer team would like to run a pre-loved toy stall. Please bring in any old toys that could be sold as part of our team's stall and donate them to Year 6 by the end of Wednesday. We would love any small donations! Thank you.
Christingles
Thank you for sending your children into school today with their oranges ready for our Christingle afternoon. This year, our children worked together with others from across the school to learn about the symbolism of Christingle and to create their own. When making the Christingles, all of the children learn that the candle and sweets symbolise hope and joy - something which is very welcome during the cold winter months!
Choir at St Mary's Church
Thank you to all of those who visited the Christmas Fayre at St. Mary's Church last weekend. There was a real buzz of visitors.
A special 'well done' to our school choir who attended and took part in singing during the fayre. There was some amazing feedback from parents and members of the public. You were fantastic representatives of our school.
Football Report
Our football team travelled to play Bovingdon on Thursday after school. With only 7 players and difficult conditions it was always going to be a challenge. The team started well but found themselves 2-0 down halfway through the first half, a Trent Alexander-Arnold esque pass from Jenson and tireless pressure from Jacob lead to an own goal for Bovingdon, on the stroke of half-time some intricate play between Alfie, Jacob and Dylan lead to an equaliser from Henry. Nash Mills started the second half strongly and in the rapidly fading light some great work from Arnie at the back post from a corner lead to another own goal and a 3-2 lead, with only minutes remaining Bovingdon pulled back an equaliser. In the dying seconds, Nash Mills had a free kick on the halfway line, Harry sent a fierce shot racing towards the goal, the Bovingdon goal keeper managed to tip it over the bar and the game ended in a draw. We are incredibly proud of the boys and the support they showed for each other and how hard they fought for each other.
This has improved following a rocky patch last week! In this week's attendance league, Year 2 soared to the top with an outstanding 99% attendance rate, setting a new benchmark for everyone to follow. Year 4 followed closely, achieving a commendable 98.1%. Year 6 demonstrated strong consistency with 97.92%, while Year 1 showed great improvement with an impressive 97.5%, matching Year 5's performance. Year 3 continued their upward trend with 95.83%, and Reception maintained a steady 94%. Despite a slight dip, our Nursery pupils contributed a solid 92%.
Let's keep the momentum going as we support our learning journeys. Why did the student eat their homework? Because the teacher said it was a piece of cake!
Term Dates 2025-2026 - Please click here to view the term dates for the 2025-26 academic year on our website; these have now been confirmed by the governing body. Please take an early look at these dates so that holidays for next year can be booked outside of term time to avoid disruption to your child(ren)'s learning. Thank you.
Our TTRS leader board reflects the improvement of accuracy over the last week. This is an important statistic as it shows how well children are improving in their times tables. Well done to our leaders this week.
Our Numbots leader board is based on the effort and the time children have been putting in over the last seven days. The more they play the more their fluency will improve and the easier the transition to times tables will become. Well done to our leaders this week!

As this week is the start of advent, worship was spent thinking about things that we have to wait for. For Christians, this is the start of a very special time; advent meaning arrival. As people prepare to celebrate the arrival of Jesus, they light advent candles, like the one pictured. The first was lit this week, which is the 'hope' candle; a reminder that, even when things feel difficult, there is hope that they will get better.
Which things do you have in your lives that bring you hope?
