Massachusetts Book Award Program

Each year, children in grades 4, 5, and 6 from across Massachusetts read five or more books from a list of nominees and then vote for their favorite. Books published within five years of the award year are eligible, and nominations are made based on criteria such as literary quality, genre variety, representation of diverse cultural groups, and reader appeal. The award is sponsored by Salem State University. Learn more. This program is voluntary for our students.
