Welcome! In 2023, I joined NASA Goddard and SSAI as a Senior Research Scientist. During 2015-2022, I worked at George Mason University as a Research Faculty/Scientist (https://sites.google.com/site/minhuanggmu). I received my PhD degree from the University of Iowa in 2012 and conducted my postdoctoral research at Jet Propulsion Lab/Caltech during 2012-2015.
Job responsibilities and research interests:
I use computer models, remote sensing and in-situ observations to investigate how human activities and natural forces influence the Earth system.
Currently at Goddard, my responsibilities include the operation, improvement, and documentation of Goddard's global and regional (i.e., Central Asia) Land Data Assimilation Systems for the FEWS NET project. These systems are developed based on the Land Information System.
Since 2016, I have been applying coupled Land Information System / NASA-Unified Weather Research and Forecasting systems constrained by multiple satellite datasets, which allow more accurate and comprehensive analyses on atmospheric transport, land-atmosphere interactions, and aerosol feedbacks. Some of our studies enabled by such tools are highly interdisciplinary and policy-relevant, and have furthered our earlier source attribution work using multi-scale atmospheric chemistry modeling and multispecies chemical data assimilation.
