Basics for reading Macbeth:
- What is a theme? Themes can be general ideas/subjects or themes can be more detailed and expressed in a lesson learned from the literary piece.
- What is a tragedy? Regarding Shakespeare, a tragedy has bad things happening and usually ends in a tragic way for the main character.
- Iambic Pentameter - a way of writing poetry using meter. A common meter in poetry consisting of an unrhymed line with five feet, each foot containing a stressed syllable and an unstressed syllable.
