In 2024 the Houston training program celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Since 1974, Houston has hosted the maritime ministry training program and offered to coordinate training for other ministries in North America. Though NAMMA and Stella Maris have always been involved, the training program was organized by the Houston chaplains and staff. Since 2019, NAMMA itself now manages the school, with the direct partnership of HISC and Stella Maris.
