Plenary Sessions:

This plenary session will update participants on a variety of exciting developments in behavioral health care in Indiana. From Indiana's implementation of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, to Crisis Intervention Team program development and Sequential Intercept Model mapping, to Competency Restoration, we have a lot of updates to share!

The National Judicial Task Force to Examine State Courts Response to Mental Illness was created by the Conference of Chief Justices/Conference of State Court Administrators in 2020.  Its primary focus was to examine the intersection of courts and the behavioral health system and recommend how to reduce the overrepresentation of persons living with serious mental illness in the justice system.  The Task Force issued its Final Report in October, 2022, making eleven recommendations for state court leaders.  Justice Goff served on the Task Force and was selected to co-chair national implementation of its recommendations.  Justice Goff has also been involved with implementation of the Task Force’s recommendations in Indiana.  Those efforts continue and were formally kicked off on October 21, 2022 at the Indiana Mental Health Summit.
