Hello! My name is Katey Bizzell and I am a seventh grade English teacher at Highland Hills Middle school. I am excited that the 2025-26 school year will be my tenth year teaching at HHMS, and my twelfth year teaching total. My first two years of teaching were in Bloomington, Indiana.
I'm not a stranger to the New Albany/Floyd County school corporation. I attended Greenville Elementary, Highland Hills Middle School, and Floyd Central High School. Both of my parents taught for the corporation as well, and are now retired.
I went to college at Indiana University Southeast, majoring in secondary English education, and graduated in the spring of 2013. I graduated with my master's degree from IUS in secondary education in the spring of 2022.
I am married to my best friend, Mike. We have a home in Charlestown, and have three adorable fur-kids that I talk about ALL THE TIME. Zeke is our 10.5 year old orange tabby cat who looks and acts just like Garfield. Reggie is our wild 4 year old Brittany Spaniel. Finally, Daisy is our sweet and cuddly 2 year old lab/pit mix that we recently rescued. I love them dearly.
In my spare time I enjoy READING, playing trivia, watching sports, playing games, going to concerts, bonfires, swimming, gardening, riding my Peloton, golfing, and spending time with my family and friends. I am a HUGE Indiana Hoosiers fan! I love rubber duckies, and have quite the collection in my classroom. They make me happy! My favorite colors are blue, yellow, and purple, and my favorite foods are sushi, lumpia, and donuts!
The 2025-26 school year is going to be a GREAT year at Highland Hills. If you ever need anything, you can always find me. I am ALWAYS here to help!
