COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is an introduction to the basic concepts of differential and integral calculus. Course topics include limits and continuity; differentiation and its applications including curve sketching; indefinite and definite integrals; the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus; anti-derivatives and integrals of the trigonometric functions, logarithmic and exponential functions; inverse functions and hyperbolic functions. The use of a graphing calculator is required for this course to further the exploration of these functions and their applications.
Prerequisite:
· Meets placement criteria for ENG101
· Successful completion of MAT 204 OR Final grade of 80 or higher in a CCC approved high school precalculus course
You are required to have the following items with you in class on a daily basis:
1. Pencil
2. 1.5” or 2" Binder with dividers (labels: Notes, Homework, Spirals, Quizzes, Tests/Projects)
3. Graphing Calculator (will be provided)
4. Ruler (will be provided)
METHOD OF EVALUATION:
Your numeric grade for the course will be determined from your homework, your quiz average, and your exam grades, using the following weighting:
Homework average 15%
Quiz average 50%
Test and Project Average 35%
Tests and projects will be graded out of 100 points. Quizzes will range from 20 to 70 points in value. Homework will be graded daily and points will vary.
GRADE SCALE: 93-100 = A; 90-92 = A-; 87-89 = B+; 84-86 = B; 80-83 = B-; 77-79 = C+; 74-76 = C; 70-73 = C-; 67-69 = D+; 65-66 = D; 0-64 = F
