This course is open to all freshman students. This is a great way to meet friends and get involved at your new school. This choir will study a variety of musical styles and teach students a wide range of vocal technique. They will have the opportunity to perform in conjunction with other CHS ensembles during the year and as a smaller ensemble. Public performances include the Fall Concert, Holiday concert and spring Fine Arts Night.

This course provides opportunities to develop musicianship and specific performance skills through ensemble. Singing with a specifically women’s ensemble allows for greater development of the voice through the study of various repertoire. Public performances include the Fall Concert, Coffeehouse, Holiday concert, ISSMA and spring Fine Arts Night.
Prerequisite: Beginning Chorus or teacher recommendation

This course is open to women only and is for the highly motivated student who enjoys dancing, singing, acting, travel,meeting new people, seeing new places and has time to commit to rehearsal outside of school hours. This choir requires a full year long commitment. Rehearsals and performances start in August and continue through May. Tuition fees for involvement range between $1,000-$2,700.

Students in this course develop musicianship and specific performance skills through group and individual settings for the study and performance of varied styles of vocal jazz. Instruction includes the study of the history and formative and stylistic elements of jazz. Students develop their creative skills through improvisation, composition, arranging, performing, listening, and analyzing. Time outside of the school day may be scheduled for rehearsals and performances. A limited number of public performances may serve as a culmination of daily rehearsal and musical goals. Students are required to participate in performance opportunities outside of the school day that support and extend learning in the classroom.

This course offers students the opportunity to receive small group or private instruction designed to develop and refine performance skills. A variety of music methods and repertoire is utilized to refine students’ abilities in performing, creating, and responding to music. Voice lessons will be given in a group setting and each student will develop an individual repertoire during the course of the semester. Classical, Broadway and literature in foreign language will be taught. Students will learn from others as they critique and exchange ideas.
This course will study the history of musical theatre and its place in today’s society. Students will engage in Acting, singing, Stagingand choreographing excerpts from musicals. Additionally, students explore career opportunities in theatre, attend and critique theatrical productions, and recognize the responsibilities and the importance of individual theatre patrons in their community. As this course is performance based, attendance is vital to ensure student achievement. Students will perform scenes as well as vocal solos, duets, and ensembles throughout the semester. There will be one evening public performance requirement for this class.
