Our Amazing Art Adventures in 4th Class
We have been very busy in art this term, exploring lots of creative projects and learning new skills!
First, we tried something really fun and a bit tricky — upside-down self-portraits! This helped us focus on shapes, lines, and details, instead of just thinking about what a face “should” look like. It was a great way to practice drawing carefully and seeing things in a new way.
One of our favourite activities was taking part in the Dublin Canvas Art Project. We looked at how artists bring colour and creativity to our city by decorating everyday objects, like traffic light boxes, with beautiful designs. This inspired us to create our own colourful artwork that could brighten up any street!
Next, we made beautiful autumn tree paintings. We imagined what the trees would look like if we were lying underneath them and looking up. Using this special perspective, our trees looked tall, full of swirling leaves, and ready for the autumn breeze.
Another project we worked on was landscape drawing using a grid. The grid helped us get the proportions just right so our landscapes looked balanced and realistic. It was like being real artists planning a masterpiece!
Finally, we made a collage about our class expectations, which connect to our school values. We talked about kindness, respect, teamwork, and doing our best, and then used colourful paper, words, and pictures to create a big class artwork that shows what’s important to us.
We’re so proud of all the creative work we’ve done — our classroom walls are bursting with colour and imagination! 🌈
🎵 Making Our Own Musical Instruments! 🎶
This week in 4th class, we became inventors and musicians! We learned all about sound and how it travels, then we got to create our own musical instruments using everyday materials. Some of us made guitars from tissue boxes and rubber bands, others made shakers from rice and bottles, and a few even made flutes from straws!
When our instruments were ready, we had a mini concert in class. It was so much fun to hear all the different sounds we could make. Everyone was so creative, and we laughed a lot while playing our homemade tunes.
We learned that music doesn’t always come from a shop—it can come from imagination and teamwork! 🎶✨
Our school went phone-free — and to celebrate, a special company came in to help us enjoy some real-life fun!
They filled the hall with amazing wooden games — puzzles, balancing challenges, giant board games, and more. Everyone in 4th Class had such a great time working together, laughing, and playing. It was so nice to see everyone talking, thinking, and teaming up.
We learned that you don’t need a phone or tablet to have fun — just friends, imagination, and a few great games!
It was a fantastic day! 🎲
