In February, the CounSELing Connection highlights classroom guidance lessons focusing on safety as counselors lead personal safety lessons from Educate to Protect. WES will be celebrating Kindness Week near the end of the month as a time to spread compassion and positivity across our school community!  

This month, classroom guidance lessons will focus on building relationship skills—helping students practice sharing, cooperation, empathy, and respectful communication so they can navigate social situations with confidence and form healthy friendships.

The CounSELing Connection in November reviews helpful strategies the school counseling team is teaching students regarding the important skill of Self-Management. In their monthly SEW lesson students will practice coping skills to help manage emotions, thoughts and behaviors.

This month's CounSELing Connection focuses on Self-Awareness, a key skill that teaches children to identify their emotions by name and recognize the body sensations that accompany them. Understanding this connection helps kids know why they react the way they do, which is the foundation for managing emotions and building strong, healthy friendships.
