EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

Permanent Lecturer/Clinical Supervisor/Dental Surgeon: PGWC / UWC Dental Faculty (2019 - current). Permanent staff member in the Department of Paediatric Dentistry at UWC Dental Faculty. 4th-year module coordinator of the Paediatric programme and 4th-year coordinator for the B.Ch.D. programme. Committee responsibilities include Hospital Clinical and Student Affairs Committees; Faculty Board member; contributor to “Field Dentistry Course” offered to Emergency Medical Practitioners; contributor to the Specialisation process of Paediatric Dentistry in South Africa.

Full-time Clinical Supervisor/Lecturer/Dental Surgeon: UWC Dental Faculty (2017 – 2018). Clinical supervision of undergraduate dental students in the Department of Restorative/Conservative Dentistry, in pre-clinical and clinical modules (3^rd, 4^th, 5^th year students). Owner: Picture Framing Business (2010 – 2012). Started picture framing from a home studio, as a part-time augmentation for my abstract art. Sold as a going concern.

Owner: Peckasso Art (Abstract Artist) (2009 – present). Took a hiatus from work in 2009 to develop my art portfolio for the national and international markets and successfully obtained listing on many online galleries. Invited to exhibit in London, Brussels and Copenhagen; been approached by the Amsterdam-Whitney Gallery in New York for representation. Was published in 2011 in ‘A Walk into Abstraction Vol. 4’ by Sue St John.

Co-owner: Liquor Ranch Hout Bay, Milkwood Centre, Hout Bay, Cape Town (now Blue Bottle Liquors Hout Bay) (2006 - 2011) – Retail

Co-Owner: Cascades Western Cape, Mansfield Crescent, Gordon’s Bay, Cape Town (2004 – 2006). Manufacturing plant established for the moulding of garden pots and water-features, retailing to garden centres, nurseries, hardware stores and to walk-in customers.

Associate Dental Surgeon: SmileCare Dental Clinic) - 111 Chiswick High Road, West London, W4, UK (1998 –2004).

Achievements: Successfully treated many TV and radio celebrities, successfully rehabilitated fearful/phobic patients, completed Post-graduate Botox workshop/course, completed all CPD requirements, completed CPR and CPR-Advanced courses, private quota increased from 50% to 80%, actively involved in the reduction of dental phobias, completed 1st & 2nd semester of Dipl. Psychology (Rustland College), participated in On-Call rota, patient list grew from 3500 to 5000 patients, introduced weekly staff meetings, attended several post-graduate courses, comprehensive periodontal care with cosmetic treatments.

Reason for leaving: Decided to return home to South Africa permanently

Dental Surgeon: West Drayton Dental Centre - Station Road, West Drayton, Middx, UK (1997 – 1998)

Achievements: Increased private monthly quota from 15% -35%, did most periodontal treatments in practice, set-up and ran Mobile Dental Service, excellent child compliance and attendance, increased paediatric recalls by 70%, completed CPD obligations, participated in On-Call rota, increased patient list from 4000 to 5000 patients, increased adult recalls by 35%, initiated weekly staff meetings.

Reason for leaving: Accepted position of Associate at a practice closer to home.
