CLASSROOM WORK ETHIC:
A strong work ethic and positive attitude is expected from each student. This course can be difficult and sometimes frustrating; however, I expect every student to rise up to the occasion to succeed! This will be demonstrated in the following manner:
RESPECT. Respect yourself, your teacher, your classmates, all visitors, and classroom materials. Our classroom community is a welcoming environment where all ideas and thoughts are appreciated. Remember the Golden Rule: “Treat others how you want to be treated.”
BEHAVIOR. We all have bad days; however, this does not entitle you to disrespect yourself, teacher, classmates, visitors, and classroom materials. No disrespect and rude behavior will not be tolerated in this class. All students will be expected to follow given directions and will be subject to the appropriate consequences (good or bad). Remember:“Attitudes are truly contagious. So ask yourself- ‘Is mine worth catching?’” During work time I will have some music playing!
RESPONSIBILITY/WORK ETHIC. It is my goal to use every possible moment to expose you to the commitments of art in the classroom. I expect you to be fully prepared with all of your materials ready at hand and on-time to receive the full benefit of the day’s lesson. This class will be following a business-like work ethic where you will be held accountable for your own responsibilities and duties as an active learner of this classroom community. If there are any questions, concerns, or any need for clarification for directions, guidance, and so forth, please ask for assistance! By being prepared and on time, you are setting yourself up for success!
PREPARATION. Come prepared with your materials everyday! Cell phones must be turned off and kept in your backpack at all times. IPADs are to be used for academic purposes only. If you are caught abusing this privilege (playing games, on Instagram, etc.), your device will be confiscated.
YEARBOOK STAFF ETHICS:
Staff members are expected to act in a professional manner at all times, especially when representing the yearbook staff.
Staff members are expected to inform and gain permission from any teacher before taking pictures in his or her class.
Staff members are expected to keep confidentiality and not share information regarding the yearbook with anyone not on the staff.
Staff members are expected to have all of their equipment with them at ALL times.
Staff members are expected to care and protect yearbook equipment as defined by the "Equipment Use & Liability Agreement."
Staff members are to do your very best to create a positive work environment to get your creative minds going!

***Academic Integrity: You will adhere to UTT’s academic Integrity policy at all times.***
All students begin with an A. Whether or not you uphold this grade is your responsibility and will be determined by the stated Classroom Expectations and Requirements. I do not give grades, you earn them!
Grades can be checked using Aeries. Depending on the length of the current assignment, grades will typically be updated approximately 1-2 weeks after a submission. All late work is accepted for 50% (F) of the grade as all work is done in class. Late work will be entered when I get to it! If my work is not your priority, putting it in Aeries immediately is not mine. DO NOT repeatedly ask me to enter it 5 minutes after you turn it in!
Life happens! If you having issues at home or school, multiple exams at once, or realize you need more time for your project, to complete your absolute best work, email me for a possible (not guaranteed) extension a day before the due date. You CANNOT request any possible extension right when the project is due!
Tardiness is a great distraction. By being tardy to class, you are losing valuable learning opportunities and studio time to work on your projects. I understand that there are sometimes circumstances that are often out of your control that cause you to be late; however, I expect you to come talk to me before, during a break, or after class to discuss alternatives to ensure that your tardiness does not impede your learning.
Enter the class in a positive manner and be seated in your assigned seat well before the bell rings. You will be marked tardy if you are not seated in your assigned seat when the bell rings.
Unexcused Tardy Policy:
1st Tardy: Warning
2nd Tardy: Teacher Conference and email home
3rd Tardy: Phone call home & a 1-hour detention
4th Tardy: Conference with parents/ guardians
Due to the nature of the class, all projects will be completed in class. However, if homework is assigned, please follow these guidelines for making up work due to absences:
If you are ABSENT, you are required to complete any missed work the day you return to class. All absences must be excused (illness, funeral, etc.) to receive possible full points on missed work. You have up to 1-2 days from your return to school to complete any missed work. After those 2 days, any missing assignments/projects will be accepted as late. You have before school, nest, nutrition, lunch, and after school to make up work. NO EXCUSES!
Any missed work can be found on this class site well in advance. You may also check the written agenda in class to see what you missed! If you should have trouble accessing these materials, you are to immediately email me prior to your return to class so that I may send you all the materials ahead of time.
Any assignment/project you are absent for will be entered as a zero or missing until it is turned in!
E-Submissions: You are always welcome to email me your work if the submission site is acting strange. There is no excuse not to have an assignment (everything is done in class)! Internet issues are not an excuse! If technology failures happen, come to my class during a break or after school and turn in your physical assignment! THE SCHOOL LIBRARY IS ALWAYS AVAILABLE!
You will not be allowed to use the bathroom 10 minutes after the bell has rung for class nor 10 minutes before class is over. If you plan to use the bathroom during class, it is required that you sign in with the appropriate period (you will print your first and last name, the time you left and came back, and where you plan to go). In addition, there will only be 1 bathroom pass. If the pass is not there, you must wait until it returns.
Each quarter you will be provided with 5 bathroom passes. Every time you use the bathroom, you will turn one in to me. Any bathroom passes not used during each quarter will be counted as EXTRA CREDIT!
