What is MUN all about?
Model United Nations (MUN) students take on the role of a diplomat from a specific country and represent that country in a simulated United Nations committee during a one-to-three day conference.
Students prepare for MUN conferences by researching world issues and the positions of the countries they will represent.
Tustin MUN students grow as leaders in their four years in the program, serving as mentors to younger students and as the coordinators of Tustin's own MUN conference.
Debate & Diplomacy
During these conferences, Tustin students interact with students from other schools, debating the issues they have researched.
MUN is also a family! Students make life long friends and mentors from across grade levels. Because students meet as freshmen and grow through the grade levels together, many of our MUNers remain friends for life!
All MUN students work toward improving their global awareness by devising and executing a Capstone service project over their four years in MUN based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
THSMUN travels yearly to compete in Northern California, Europe and the East Coast! Travel is an amazing opportunity for students to see the world and experience other cultures as part of their school curriculum.
College Readiness and Rigor
MUN is a rigorous honors elective that is A-G approved by the UC system for Tustin Unified School District. Students learn problem solving and critical thinking in an inquiry-based environment. MUN is also recognized as a highly-prized extracurricular activity by many top universities around the world. Many of our graduates have gone on to prestigious four-year universities.
