Hewes Families,
Given the current circumstances of our country and the world, we will be moving forward in a "Distance Learning" online model while schools remain closed.
As we launch, here is an overview to help your student successfully connect and learn:
Teachers will each have 2 Office Hours per day. Times will vary by teacher and sign up times and availability can be seen on their “Calendly” link found on either Google Classroom or Haiku.
The Instructional format in secondary schools across TUSD will be uniform with direct instruction (no more than 20 minutes of a mini lesson) and an assignment (30 minutes or less) for students to complete:
Direct Instruction Days:
Mondays &
Wednesdays
Math
History
World Languages
Direct Instruction Days:
Tuesdays & Thursdays
English
Sciences
Electives
Fridays will be used for reflection activities and possible enrichment
Teachers will be reaching out to students via email, Google Classroom, or Haiku announcement by tomorrow morning.
This is meant to promote connectivity, provide some structure for students and to continue learning. It is not meant to replace a full day at school.
Let us know of any questions as we are here to support and if you would like additional follow up please sign up on the administrative office hour calendars as we too will be working remotely:

As Plato once said, “Necessity is the mother of invention.” With our creative, inventive, and adaptable natures, we will work to problem solve and endure together. Highlanders, we got this.
Let’s go calmly and take each day at a time.
Our team is ready to rise in the face of this challenging time, providing a positive learning connection for students.
In the meantime, stay safe Highlanders and may you find some additional PDF (Playtime, Downtime, Family time) amidst this challenging time period.
Sincerely,
Eric Kilian
Principal
