Do club swimmers get to practice with their club in the off-season?
Club swimmers that swim for a recognized program will participate in dry land or weights on Tuesdays and Thursdays during 6th period if their club does not offer them, but may practice with their clubs the rest of the week.
Do club swimmers get to practice with their club during the high school season?
If they have at least one CIF State Championship consideration time, then they may practice with their club instead of the high school practices if they choose to do so.
How much is the transportation fee this year?
For the 2024-25 school year transportation is $150.

If I turned in physical forms and clearance for another sport, do I have to turn in another one for swim?
If the physical was for this school year, then you are covered for all sports. You do, however, need to go to http://www.athleticclearance.com to indicate that you are interested in swim and print the verification form to turn into the athletic secretary.
Do we have to order the team suit?
No, but the suit you wear in competition must be navy blue as a predominant color and comply with CIF rules for coverage. It is important to note that if you buy a suit from the store, it will cost you more than the team suit since we get a team discount.
Can we use our suit from last year?
As long as it still functions as stated above.
Can we wear our water polo suit?
As long as it still functions as stated above.
Do we need a separate suit for practice?
Yes. Your team suit is for competition only or it won't last the entire season. Your practice suit can be any color.
Can girls wear a two piece suit for practice?
No.
If it is raining, do we still get in?
Yes, unless there is imminent danger of lightning.

Should I miss practice if I have a cold?
"Anyone who exercises on a regular basis has been faced with the decision of whether to skip a workout or exercise during a cold. This is often a difficult decision because of the uncertainty as to whether a bout of exercise will worsen your illness or perhaps make you feel better. The next time that you are faced with a cold, here are some general guidelines to follow when you are making the decision as to whether you should exercise or take the day off. It is typically okay to exercise with a cold if your symptoms are above the neck. That is, if your cold symptoms are limited to a runny nose, nasal congestion, and a mild sore throat. Nonetheless, you should probably reduce the intensity of workout during a cold and avoid high-intensity/long-duration workouts. If your cold symptoms get worse with physical activity, stop exercise and rest. You can restart your workout routine gradually as you begin to feel better.
In contrast to this advice there are some situations when you should not exercise. For example, postpone your workout if your cold symptoms are below the neck (i.e., chest congestion, cough, or stomach pain). Further, don’t exercise if you have a fever, general fatigue, or widespread muscle aches. You can resume training when the below-the-neck cold symptoms have passed and your fever is no longer present."

Do you have a summer program?
No. Most of our swimmers join one of the Irvine Swim League teams or swim for one of the area club teams.
How does a swimmer or diver join Beckman Swim & Dive?
If they are a club swimmer, they can send me there times or they can let us know what team they are on and we can look them up. If their times are fast enough, they will be added to a registration list for the 6th period swim class for fall and spring semesters.
If they are not a club swimmer, we conduct swim tests in the Fall during the first couple of weeks. They must be able to demonstrate each of the 4 competitive strokes legally and complete 10 x 50 yard freestyles on 1 minute intervals. If they pass the swim test, they will be given an add form to have their schedule changed.
