3rd - 5th: This week we will continue practicing the Fitnessgram Pacer test and/or running outside for cardiovascular endurance. We will also review locomotor warm up exercises. We will begin a tagging unit focused on skills of navigating space, dodging and fleeing skills and teamwork.

2nd & 3rd: Students will learn to retell stories in the correct order, focusing on key elements of the story and will develop deeper abilities to portray specific character traits and feelings. Students will read Carmela Full of Wishes and discuss Hispanic Heritage Month.

PE:
Kindergarten - 5th: Continued comprehension of P.E. Guidelines, Procedures and Expectations to promote a healthy, safe and positive PE environment for the year. This week we will continue learning/reviewing locomotor skills and warm up exercises. We will revisit throwing at a target (first time for Kinder) with the game 'Make it Take it', aiming at a basket.
Kinder: Students will be learning about Wassily Kandinsky's concentric circles. They will use oil pastels to draw in a variety of colors and then watercolors will be used to fill in all remaining spaces.
1st Grade: Students will be painting a 'field of flowers'. They will be in charge of mixing their own flower colors as well as mixing a variety of stem shades to add to the bottom of their painting.
2nd Grade: Students will learn about Georgia O'Keeffe and her style of flowers that she painted close up. They will be drawing and using oil pastels to blend values.
3rd Grade: Students will be learning about Laurel Birch and her 'catitude' Cats that she was famous for. They will be drawing cats with personalities and adding patterns to their fur. They will use contrasting colors to plan color schemes.
4th & 5th Grade: Students will learn about Berthe Morisot and her style of painting. They will paint a flower still life using intentional brush strokes. They will also be mixing all of their own shades and tints.

This week we will continue learning/reviewing locomotor skills and warm up exercises. Introduction of scarves with emphasis on creative play and hand—eye coordination. First grade will progress to scooter-scarf tag game.

This week we will continue learning/reviewing locomotor skills and warm up exercises. Game: Scooter scarf tag incorporating scooter safety from last week with skills including dodging, fleeing and strategy.
Kinder: Students will be learning about quilts that come from Gees Bend, Alabama. They are learning about shapes and how to combine shapes to create more shapes.
1st Grade: Students have learned about the bald Eagle and it's importance in Canada as well as the USA. They will be learning about value and creating value with shadows in oil pastels.
2nd Grade: Students are learning about Maritimes in Canada and all about fishing up in the Atlantic Ocean. They will be using a variety of lines to show movement in their art.
3rd Grade: Students learned about Niagara Falls both in Canada and New York, the history and science about erosion in the area. Students will be using a variety of lines to show movement in their art.
4th & 5th Grade: (groups: Golden Globes, Tonys & Emmys) Students learned about Norval Morrisseau and his work that's based on cultural legends and spirituality with his brightly colored depictions of animals with thick black lines. Students will be creating a collage inspired from his work.
4th & 5th Grade: (groups: Grammys & Oscars) Students are learning about Canadian artist: Barbel Smith and the Northern Lights. They will be painting a value background for their Northern Lights creation.

Students in all grades will be learning about art around the world by 'traveling' to different regions. The first region we are studying is Canada and the USA; We have looked at artists that call Canada the 'Painter's Country' because of it's vast greenery and we have learned that the US is the nation with the most multicultural population.
Kinder: Students are creating a scribble Chicken with oil pastels, a new medium to most students. They will be working on tracing templates and cutting to finish it up.
1st Grade: Students are painting collage paper that they will turn into Henny Penny from 'Chicken Little'.
2nd Grade: Students are drawing cow close ups, they will be showing texture and using mixed media to finish their project.
3rd Grade: Students are learning about the deserts in the Southwestern part of the US and they are drawing a desert landscape. This landscape will have a foreground, middle ground, and background.
4th & 5th Grade: (groups: Golden Globes, Tonys & Emmys) Students are focusing on the Grand Canyon and how the terrain is shown in art. They will be drawing a landscape inspired by the Grand Canyon and using mixed media to finish their projects.
4th & 5th Grade: (groups: Grammys & Oscars) Students are discussing fish found in the Canadian and US areas, they will be drawing a fish and using mixed media to finish their projects to show dimension.
