Response Program Information
What is Response?
The Response Program is a proactive academic student support program created to meet students' reading and math needs through additional instruction and practice. This program follows the Response to Intervention educational framework and is a Tier II intervention. In Response to the Intervention model all students receive Tier I support in their regular classrooms using the Core Curriculum. If students are in need of Tier II interventions they will participate in this program. The instruction is given in a small group setting and is skill specific to the student's needs. The triangle below is a visual representation of the Response to the Intervention Model. (RTI)
Student Selection: Students performing below grade level in at least 2 areas on common grade-level assessments are candidates for this program.
Assessments Used: FASTBRIDGE, MCA, Reading Benchmark Levels, and common grade level Unit Assessments
Parents' Role: Read with your child every night. Look for communication coming home on how your child is progressing and what areas still need to be worked on.
Response Programs' Role: Provide interventions according to the needs of each child. Helping students see their strengths and cheering them on as they work on the areas that need practice.
Exiting: Students will exit the program when assessments show they are making adequate progress toward their grade level benchmarks. Parents will be informed of the exit and celebrations will be had!
