The concept of this project was to make a short film under 10 minutes that was in the horror genre. This was made in a team of 3, I co-directed it and edited it myself. The film was not to be taken too seriously, while still keeping the "horror" element of it with suspense. A small issue I face during the production was that we had limited actors, so I added myself as an actor to finish our project in an effective manner. I learned some editing methods while making it such as tracking and color correcting. In future projects I plan to tone down the coloring while still connecting with the mood of the film.
This is a 1-minute recap of our schools pep-rally. I had to summarize it by keeping the most important activities from it. A challenge I had trouble with was finding the right clips because I wasn't the one who filmed the event. I made it work by taking my time to look at all of the different content that was given and compiling the best clips. While editing, I also had trouble with the Logo Graphic because it wasn't a png. To fix this, I individually added a mask layer and removed the background. In the future, I plan to make a better intro, because I am not a big fan of the one I did for this project.
This is a Tik-tok styled video that was made to look like a trend while still being promotional in a way to the school. This trend is also used with other companies and brands so I thought it was a good idea to do it with out school's mascot. This project was filmed in a day and we had limited time as well, I think that we still managed to make something that is entertainable. I both directed and edited this video, I had never made anything in a 1080x1920 format, so I think this was a pretty good first impression. I think that if I had better clips that this would've flowed better, but overall I think this was a silly and rewarding project to work on.
In this video, we practice how to use a green screen by creating a short 2-clip video. This was a short practice that our teacher assigned us. We faced several challenges during this, such as the green screen not being big enough so we had to use two, and in the editing we had to remove the borders of the green screen so that it was seamless. To fix this, we used the mask tool on Premiere Pro to remove the extra border. In this project, I learned how to use the Chroma Key and how to adjust the setting so that the subject doesn't blend in with the green screen. In the future, I'll use a better green screen and further improve on the settings of Chroma Key.
In this project, we were assigned to recreate any Super Bowl commercial as best as we could. We had to change it into a less than 1 minute format, so we only used 3 actors. One of the actors needed to be walking on a pier so we had to adjust the green screen right while recording, in the editing i again removed the border for it to have a seamless look. In this project, I learned how to move photos around and use keyframes for the characters that were added in. In the future, I'll try to find better graphics for projects.
This was an interview segment from our school's broadcast that was added to the people category of the news broadcast. I interviewed several students that were attending homecoming and asked them varying questions. A challenge I faced was that the first time I recorded the audio didn't record with the mic, but since we did several interviews, we did not need that recording. I was able to use my interviewing skills during this projects and I also did the editing for it. I really enjoy doing the interviewing part in projects and I'm good and improvising for questions and answers. This project taught me how engaging to be in future interviews and how to edit them.
This was another interview segment this time in the Senior spotlight category. We interviewed several students from the school and asked them what their future plans for college was. A challenged I came across was regarding the audio. At first, the music was too loud compared to the base audio, I then went back to after effects and adjusted it so that you could clearly hear the people that are interviewed as well as the background music at the same time. I both edited and filmed this video, allowing me to further use my skills in interview newscast making. This video taught me to pay more attention to editing the audio and the effect it has on the viewer's experience.
Our Newscast group started useing a Tricaster and I was the main technical director. This was the first successful test we made, so it might not be our best work. We set up three cameras that we were able to switch from, with different subjects in them. It was my first time using a Tricaster and I had no previous experience from it, I figured out how to switch channels and add photos and videos from youtube tutorials and A mentor from a news channel. I also had trouble organizing what camera would go next, I made a system to countdown every camera man so the anchor goes on time. The Tricaster Elite 2 is a piece of equipment that I am consistently learning more from.
