Welcome to Bonton, South Dallas
"The Bonton Neighborhood Association is dedicated to honoring our historic legacy, protecting community homeownership, advocating for equitable municipal resources, and cultivating a safe, healthy, and thriving future for every resident of Bonton."
Location: South Dallas, Texas
Natural Boundary: Bounded by the Trinity River levee to the east and south.
Urban Boundaries: Framed by Central Expressway (US-75 / I-45) and major freight railway corridors.
Community Identity: An isolated green enclave within Dallas where neighborly unity and self-reliance have sustained families for over a century.
Settled over a century ago, Bonton grew into a close-knit, self-sustaining African American community built on mutual aid, faith, and neighborly resilience along the Trinity River floodplain.
Decades of redlining, municipal neglect, and geographic isolation created food, healthcare, and infrastructure deserts. Today, we actively advocate for equitable resources, homeownership protection, and environmental justice.
Led by President Clifton Reese, the Bonton Neighborhood Association mobilizes residents, organizes community cleanups, advocates at City Hall, and empowers local youth and families.
